With a good attitude, organic chemistry may turn out to be quite a bit of fun, and if it’s fun for you, it’ll be easier to get yourself to sit down and study the material. With a bad attitude, studying for the class would be harder than trying to get a year-old to hold still for a booster shot.

Organic chemistry is a branch of chemistry that studies the structure, properties and reactions of organic compounds, which contain carbon in covalent bonding. Study of structure determines their chemical composition and of properties includes physical and chemical properties, and evaluation of chemical reactivity to understand their behavior.   Organic chemistry consists of the study of organic molecules, including their formations, reactions, mechanisms of reactions, product formation, and uses. Most of the compounds studied in organic chemistry contain at least one carbon-hydrogen : 24K.

I bought the ACS book, but would like to have some kind of sample exam or anything close relating to their style of exams. I ask this because I already took the ACS General Chemistry example, and i felt the study book was completely different from the actual exam that I took.

I really need to score high about the 80th percentile. The aim of the book is to explain the subject, clarify important studies, and compare and develop new and groundbreaking applications. It focuses on recent and future trends in analytical methods and provides an overview of analytical chemistry.

Organic Chemistry II this intermediate course examines processes for identifying molecular structures and synthesizing organic compounds. This course also discusses how organic chemistry is used.

If you're looking to study carbon-containing compounds, Organic Chemistry As a Second Language (appx. $54) connects fundamental ideas and explains why they're relevant without getting mired in detail, making it a good primer to read before you begin any introductory classes.

I will be taking Organic Chemistry I in the fall ( days from today) and am tremendously frightened. I will attempt to get the textbook and syllabus very shortly. Can anybody recommend the best self learning book to assist me in learning Organic Chemistry I as I read the textbook?

I have. Thanks for the A2A. I personally think that Solomon is one of the better Organic textbooks for explaining difficult concepts.

They provide great examples. However, I think the examples and practice problems given are a tad bit on the easier side.
